Hong Kong Museum of Art
The Hong Kong Museum of Art is the main art museum in the city of Hong Kong, China. This museum was established as the City Hall Museum and Art Gallery in 1962. In that year it was located in the City Hall in Central near the Urban council. By the year 1991, the museum was moved to the present location in Salisbury Road, close to the Hong Kong Space Museum and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui. This art gallery is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, which is part of the Hong Kong Government.
A branch of the Hong Kong Museum of Art is the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware located in the Hong Kong Park. This museum is very known for changing it displays regularly. The collection of this museum are more than 16,000 artworks. The main artist exhibitions found on this museum are calligraphy, sculpture and paintings of Hong Kong, China and other locations around the world. This art gallery in Hong Kong is very known for its cooperation with other museums nationally and worldwide. The mission of this museum is to preserve the cultural heritage of China and promote the art of Hong Kong with a local focus.
