The New Orleans Museum of Art
The New Orleans Museum of Art also known as NOMA is one of the oldest fine arts gallery in the city of New Orleans located in the U.S state of Louisiana. This museum was established as The Delgado Museum of Art in 1911.
The New Orleans Museum of Art was funded by a local art collector known as Isaac Delgado through a charitable grant. The building design of the museum was provided by the chief engineer of the city known as Benjamin Morgan Harrod. The New Orleans art museum has the Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden and the Sidney. It also features fifty modern sculptures which area among various bridges, walking trail, lagoons, magnolias, oaks, pines, etc. The fine arts gallery has also available for its visitors a small theater, Courtyard Cafe and a gift shop.
The museum collection features over fifty thousand objects from the Italian Renaissance to the new era. The permanent collection of this museum is noted for its American, European and French artworks. The New Orleans Museum of Art offers grey photography collections, ceramics, glass, Native American art, Southern art, Central American art, Japanese paintings, African folk art, Chinese ceramics, etc. NOMA also works in collaboration with other local museums for the development of the grey special exhibitions.
